Companioning

During Companioning both parties feel heard and seen resulting in resonant understanding and the affirmation that your struggles make sense; “We are on the same page, we are enough, we matter.” You will experience deep listening and presence.

He handled his work in a professional, unassuming and humble manner. I felt somehow that spiritual companioning has become so much part of his nature, that every comment he made to one, left one feeling understood.

Affirmation of Self: The purpose of the affirmation below is to free oneself from the measures of perfectionism. Perfectionism is the most pernicious, pervasive and subliminal attitude inflicting anxiety and conflict into the minds and hearts of humanity. When the instinct for growth and development drives a person into the ‘nothing I do is good enough’ corner, they are seriously at risk. Societal conditioning for perfectionism is entrenched by schools who measure our worth with mark-based exam assessments. Only a tiny percentage of learners in this system becoming empowered by their achievements. Rather than motivating, it breeds judgemental attitudes, the worst of which is the notion of ‘failure’, often a life long sentence. The damage done to the lower achiever messes with their self worth. It sets up rank hierarchies where success is the measure of marks, approval and later wealth. This is the foundation for the inclusion-exclusion, us-them dynamic which results even in top achievers becoming victims of their drive for success. Their subliminal conditioning can easily result in the measurement of spouse and children. Their perfectionist standards impose judgements on character rather than nurturing character. This mindset, which undermines a growing body of humans stuck with their self doubt or over confidence, can last a lifetime. How then do these people find a home in the very society that inflicts ideas leading to self loathing? The courage and commitment of the affirmation below reflects a process attitude. There is no judgement in it rather it affirms quite literally, enough is enough. To regain the simple value of being a human being, rather than, a human doing, you are invited to read and reflect, memorize and create, repeat and display for all to see on walls, on mirrors, on fridges. This matters:

Affirmation I am enough, but I’m not perfect and that is okay, and that, is normal. I choose to respect others. I choose responsibility to live with excellence, to be healthy and care, to be trustworthy and fair. I explore the person, I am meant t…
