Transform Teachers, Administration & Students

[Nodi’s] workshop is something that every staff member who interacts with our learners should attend.

Facilitation & Intervention

Nodi’s facilitation and intervention in schools is based on a range of practises that dovetail with each other. These components include emotional, social and multiple intelligences, the 5 strategies of the Virtues ProjectTM, restorative justice, leadership and mindfulness. By highlighting character development and respect for the individual, he helps develop a high trust atmosphere in classrooms and staff rooms. Keys to mending what has been broken are restorative circles of deep listening where everyone knows they matter. He explores new practises that grow relationships of kindness and trust through a school culture of rights and responsibilities, dignity and diversity.

Workshops & Programmes

Nodi offers a range of workshops - short 90 minute introductions, 1, 2 and 5 days as well as a 4 month implemetation programme to establish, practise and transform the culture of the school. While leading staff workshops Nodi emphasises the necessity of buy-in from those in leadership positions, so that most staff become meaningfully engaged. For the environment to be transformed in this inclusive and challenging way, all stakeholders should be part of the change. Nodi goes into classrooms to guide staff and do restorative and empowering circles for groups and individuals.

Feedback

This includes offering feedback that affects how people think about their future interactions.  Through consultative scenario planning, an action plan is developled that aligns with the school’s vision and mission. Nodi encourages leaning into being the person we recognise, appreciate and like. Attitude shifts away from an emphasis on product and achievement towards process, journey and adventure.

A fresh perspective on the restoring of human dignity… [Nodi’s] authentic, compassionate and flexible personality, made it easy for him to integrate with our school community and he quickly earned the respect of the staff and learners alike… result[ing] in a total transformation in the way that we interact and collaborate with one another.

I particularly enjoyed the comparison between retributive and restorative justice. I identified retributive as corporal punishment but it entails so much more including sarcasm, name-calling and teasing.
